Hi CE. What’s your name? I go by Luela. I think I explained that earlier, but if not let me know.

Do you have a copy of the Boggus, Boggess, etc book? If not I’ll send it to you. There’s some good information on our ancestors from the 1600s forward in it! Have you been on Ancestry? I have quite a large group there and I’d be happy to share with you. I haven’t done much research on the old country yet, but we have ancestors from England, Scotland, & Ireland. Maybe even some Welsh.

Thanks CE  for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz. As Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within a project is essential

Please ensure a location is entered on all profiles and data matches dates of profile. Avoid abbreviations as these can mean different things or location around the world, add sources with citations & links for sources to support the data. From wiki ID go to Research to find sources

The United States Project and its sub projects for each state, would be of interest. Adding the tag UNITED_STATES will connect you  Follow this link for your Tags:   your tags

Explore Pre-1700 Projects list to find one that fits your research focus.

Dear Janet,

I received your thank you for my Pre-1700 quiz about a month ago. I appreciate that and the information you sent. When I joined WikiTree, I downloaded my Ancestry Boggus family tree and have been in the process of matching ancestors to existing profiles and adding new ones. I don't have much free time, so going through the 595 names is taking me months. It will be awhile before I can help with Pre-1700 projects. I do have several ancestors from the 1500's-1600's, so it will help with those.

Thanks for your help,

C.E.Boggus

Hi CE

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, reply to this comment, or click the link to my name and then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Karen ~ WikiTree Messenger

Dear Karen,

Thank you for checking up on me as a new member a few months ago. Please forgive me for not responding promptly. I've been checking most of my WikiTree emails but not the comments on my profile.

Yes, the New Member How-To has been helpful, but it hasn't answered every question. When I joined WikiTree, I downloaded my Ancestry Boggus family tree and have been matching profiles and adding new ones. Recently, I accidentally duplicated a person that already had a profile. Boggess-495 is the same person as Boggess-484. I've deleted the family of Boggess-495, so it won't interfere with Boggess-484, but I haven't found a way to delete the profile. Is that possible or do I need to merge the two?

Thanks again,

C.E.Boggus

Hi CE,

Please don't worry about not responding straight away, and thank you for replying.

I am glad the new members was helpful to you, accidentally creating a duplicate is something I think we have all done, in fact I think I did it twice 😢. If you go to the bottom of the profile, you will see a section "Matches and Merges". Click on the link "initiate a merge"

That will take you to the page where you have the profile ID that you created as ID1, then add the other ID in ID2, then click on merge, and that will initiate the merge, once the other profile manager has approved the merge, they will both have the ID of Bogges-484 and you will both be co-profile managers,

I hope this helps, any problems, please let me know

Take care

Karen

Hi C.,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a confirmed member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.

Ludwig :)

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.
