Solomon's grandfather Charles Boileau (1717-1767) was a Huguenot refugee from France who went first to Belgium then to England, joined the British Army and later became a successful wine merchant in Bride Street in Dublin, married and had his family there, and eventually returned to England. Charles Boileau married Marie Collot d'Escurry, they had at least seven children one of whom (Simeon) settled in Dublin.
Simeon Boileau (Solomon's father) developed a druggist/chemist business in Dublin. Simeon Boileau born 1 October 1717 Southampton married Magdalene de la Cour de Brisay 6 Aug 1741 Dublin. They had 18 children, eight of whom died young, four sons married and of the four only 2 remained in Dublin. Simeon died 1767 and is buried at Merrion Row as is his Magdelene who died 1786 age 66.
Solomon worked as a cashier in a Dublin bank (Bank of Finley & Co) for a time, lived at Queen Street, was a lieutenant in the 76th Regiment of Foot and was involved in the 7 Year war, and was "well known and universally respected".
Solomon married Dorothea Gladwell, daughter of Francis Gladwell and Unknown, on 3 May 1766. Dorothea Gladwell was born in 1745 in Dublin, Ireland and died on 4 May 1789 in Dublin, Ireland. They had 18 children, 8 of whom died young. Children: Charles John Boileau, Simeon Peter Boileau admitted to Lincolns Inn, became a Captain in the Royal Surrey Rangers Fencible Infantry, Solomon Hugh Richard Boileau, Lestock Francis Boileau joined the Royal Navy married Charlotte Packer, John Peter Wilson Boileau married May Clarke, Magdalene Boileau, Dorothea Boileau died age 6, Anne Boileau Reid, Frances Boileau Chauvet Franco, Henrietta Boileau Davis, Dorothea Boileau, Lucy Boileau died an infant, Charlotte Boileau died an infant, Alicia Boileau Elliot, Jasper Debrisay Boileau died young, Maria Jane Boileau Goad, Henry Boileau.
Solomon married Lucy (or Lucinda) Slater, daughter of John Slater and Unknown, in 1792. Lucy Slater was born in 1771 in Liverpool, Lancashire and died in 1846 in Cheshire. Child: Dorothy Boileau Jones 1794-1865.
Solomon drowned in the River Dee at Chester in Dec 1810/11.
