Biography
Rachel was born in 1791 and passed away in 1868
Married to Zachariah Langdon [1] most likely in North Carolina; around 1830.
In the 1850 Census, the eldest child living in the household is Ama, age 20 who was born in North Carolina while the next elder child, William, was born in Indiana. It stands to reason that the family migrated between 1830 and 1832. According the the land grant (see attached image) the land was paid off by Zachariah in 1848.
In 1850, Rachel was 55 years old, living with her family: head of household Zachariah Langdon (60), Ama Langdon 20, William C Langdon 18, Sarah Langdon 15, and Elizabeth Langdon 12) in Jackson, Owen County, Indiana. [2]
In 1860 Zachariah (69) and Rachel (65) were in Jackson, Owen County, Indiana with William C Langdon 27, Elizabeth Langdon 20, Dartha Ann Langdon 8, and William V Langdon 1).[3] Dartha Ann and William V are likely children of William C Langdon, as his first wife died young. [4]
Rachel is buried in the New Union Carolina Church Cemetery, Morgan Township, Owen County, Indiana with her spouse and several other Langdons. [5]
