Biography

George Washington Bolen was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, September 4, 1845. He was in the Civil War serving with Company I, 132 Reg't, Ohio Inf. He later received a pension for his service. He married Logan County, Ohio on September 16, 1866 Anna Elizabeth Crane. The marriage was performed by Milton Bushong, J.P. The 1878-9 Directory for Logan County, Ohio, has Geo W. Bolen in Bokes Creek Township. In the 1880 U.S. Census, Rushcreek Township, Logan County, Ohio, page 32, dwelling 227 is Washington Bolen (age 38), wife Ann L. age 30 and daughter Clara age 11. (33) George Washington Bolen died August 25, 1909 in Logan County, Ohio. At the time of his death he was living at 106 North Stabley Street, Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio. Prior to about 1906 he lived in Zanesfield, Logan County, Ohio. The funeral was August 27, 1909. Rev. C. E. Rea assisted at the funeral at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church. (20) His wife, Anna, died February 11, 1932, and his buried with George W. Bolen in Lot No. 42, Bellefontaine Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio.
