From History of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania:
(Capt. Jacob Lashell) He was united in marriage Jan. 9, 1839, with Sarah A. Boley, who was born on her father's homestead, near Lashell's Ferry, Moon township, Allegheny county. Pa., Dec. 27, 1823, a daughter of John and Mary (Downard) Boley, natives of Washington county, Pa.To Capt. and Mrs. Lashell were born four children: Mary, drowned at the age of ten years; George A., married to Margaret Mc- Elherren, and residing in Allegheny, Pa.; John R., married to Elizabeth Onstott, and residing near Sharon, Moon township, and Leanora L., wife of William McKown, in Robinson township.
From Memoirs of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania:
GEORGE A. LASHELL, of Coraopolis, Pa., a prominent real estate dealer, with offices at No. 331 Fourth Ave., Pittsburg, Pa., was born in Newburgh, now Toronto, Jefferson Co., Ohio, April 27, 1845, son of Jacob and Sarah (Boley) Lashell. They had four children: Mary, who was drowned when ten years of age: George A. ; John R., of Atlantic City, N. J., and Mrs. Leonora L. McKown, of West Bridgewater, Pa. His father was a farmer and river man, came from Huntingdon county. Pa., and later settled at what is now Lashell's Landing, Moon township, Allegheny Co., Pa. He was a prominent citizen, served as county commissioner for many years, and was widely known for his many generous acts. He has been dead a number of years, but is survived by his wife, who is yet in the best of health, though in her eightieth year.
