William was born October 31, 1838 in North Carolina. At the time of the 1850 census he was 12 years old and his family had moved to Knox Co. TN. Census records show that on the farm next door lived 10 year old Nancy Catherine Headrick. Eleven years later, William and Catherine were married, Sept. 26, 1861, Blount Co. TN. William's occupation is listed in the 1880 (Knox. Co.) census as farmer. William died in 1895; Nancy in 1902. They are both buried in Williamson Chapel Cemetery, about 1/2 mile west of Lanier School on Lanier Road. William and Nancy's children are: Joseph Franklin, John C. (probably Clarence), Samuel E., Andrew J., James L., Mary I., and Issac H.
The Bolinger farm was in the W. Knoxville area now known as Westmoreland.
