Biography

Walter Bolle was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Walter was born in 1881 and died in 1951. He was the son of Henry Bolle and Catherine Fitzgerald.

Walter was a bootmaker in William Street, Urana, NSW [1]. The "Sands Country Alphabetical Directory 1909" describes his business as "clothier and cycle agent"; the 1917 edition states "general store". [2] He later had a store in Trundle, NSW - a store that burnt down in 1933:

Fire Sweeps Through Block Of Offices And Shops / SYDNEY, February 22. / A fire swept through a block of seven offices and shops in Forbes street, Trundle, early this morning. The fire started at Power's Cafe, and spread to the premises of the "Star" newspaper. Trundle Cash Store, W. Bolle's boot shop, and the premises of M. McRae, stock and station agent, and G. Grainger, chemist. The weatherboard shop occupied by T. Ellis, tailor, on the southern side of the block of the buildings, also caught fire. In the early stages the townspeople had to watch the buildings burn owing to lack of water. The block was destroyed except for the tailor's shop.

In 1934 he bought the business of Mr. H. S. Thomas in Mudgee, NSW. [4] [5]

Deceased who came to Mudgee many years ago to enter upon a boot business in Market Street, quickly gained the confidence and respect of the people of town and district, and made a success of the venture. He was one of the most valued members of the Bowling Club, and served on the executive for years. He is survived by a widow, son and daughter, to whom sincere sympathy is extended. The funeral took place to the Church of England portion of the general cemetery this afternoon, the Rev. Canon Powell officiating.
