Nancy's father is rumored to be Joseph Bolling. In addition to being a Belcher descendant (though not directly from Nancy), I am also connected to the Bolling family that I show as living from the 1730s to the 1820s (at least) in:

Henrico Co, VA, Hillsboro, Orange Co, NC Hawkins Co, TN Quicksand, Breathitt Co, KY Perry Co, KY

The Bowling family of Virginia/North Carolina/Tennessee/Kentucky is split into at least two separate branches. There are the Bollings verified by DNA to descend from Pocahontas' son-in-law Robert Bolling, and then there are my Bollings. My branch is undocumented prior to the 1700s and doesn't match Robert Bolling. There is a suggestion floating out there that my patriarchs Benjamin (b. 1734 VA) and James Bolling (b 1756 VA) (inbreeding) were actually of the Boulding family of VA. Please note, I don't know what the connection is between Benjamin and James but their DNA matches.

This surname is also commonly spelled Bowling, and might refer to the same family.

There isn't much at the moment to suggest that this Nancy Bolling is connected to my Bollings, but we should be mindful that I have a Nancy Bolling, born 1783, who was the daughter of James Bolling. Secondly, pioneers in Southeastern Kentucky often considered Southern Indiana to be a place to settle after Kentucky was all "full up."
