Sarah (Bolton) Sumner was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England.

Sarah was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, on January 12, 1893. She was the daughter of William James bolton and Elizabeth Ellen McLelland. She was one of eight children. Sarah was enumerated in the 1901 census as an eight year old residing with her parents and three siblings at 83 Buckingham Street, Everton, Liverpool. In 1911, she was the oldest of five children residing with her parents at 3 Paxton Street, North Everton. She was eighteen and a "Servant".

Sarah married William Sumner, in Liverpool, at Saint Mary, Kirkland, on August 3, 1914. Sarah and William would have three children. Sarah and William appeared in the 1939 Register residing at 3 Candia Street, Liverpool. Two daughters at residence. Sarah's occupation "Unpaid domestic Duties".

William died in 1963. Sarah passed away in May, 1971. Her death was registered in Liverpool. She was buried on May 28th at Anfield Cemetery, Her residence at time of death was 55 Baycliff Road, Liverpool. She was buried in Section 13, Grave 2512. She was seventy eight.
