John Bonar / Boner was born in 1809 in Malin Head in County Donegal, Ireland in a home beneath "Bamba's Crown". It is the most northern tip of Ireland. The home still stands today. It is probable that John's name was "Crampsey" or "O Crampsey" when he was born and later changed to "Boner" or "Bonner".
He immigrated to America (NY) from Greenock, Scotland in mid-1849 with a son, John, and a "relative" named Mary. He married Sarah Ann Keller on February 28, 1850. They had one child during their marriage. He died in 1880 in Alabama at the age of 71.
