Biography
François, son of Nicolas Denys and Antoinette Bergere,[1] was born in 1730. He married (1) Marie Jeanne Metif on 4 June 1753 at New Roads, Point Coupee, Louisiana[2] and had two daughters:
François, born 24 November 1767; died 5 December 1767 at Pointe Coupee[1]
Jean, born 9 July 1769, christened on 12 April 1770 at St. Francis Church, New Roads, Point Coupee[4][5]
Suzanne, born 3 December 1779 at Donaldsonville, Ascension, Louisiana[3]
Research Notes
Estimated death date: Profile had 1764, which was after the death date given in the profile for his first wife but before his second marriage. Changed to 1780 (profile attached for daughter Suzanne has December 1779 birth). ~ Liz Shifflett, 16 February 2018
Changed to before 1785 to accommodate daughter Magdalena, whose 1782 birth is marked as certain on her profile. ~ Liz Shifflett, 8 August 2020
Estimated birth date: 1730 remains, although that triggered a database error because his father's profile has death year of 1729:
"Check the data" warning: A father's death date (Denys-8 died 1729) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Bonaventure-6 born 1730).
The dates (1729/1730) could easily both be correct.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with François by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with François:
oops - maybe not. He died before Jean was born. ... but, but
