Andrew was born in 1820, christened 23 April, 1820.

Andrew was a coal miner from Staffordshire in England.

He was married twice. First in 1842 to Ellen Barnes, daughter of Ambrose Barnes. Andrew and Ellen had four children, (George, Ambrose, Ellen and Ann). Ellen died 1 July, 1849.

Soon after, Andrew married Martha Wilkinson (born Hadley). Andrew was illiterate and signed his marriage certificate with an "X" as did his bride, Martha and the two witnesses Charles and Jane Hunt.

By 1861 Andrew and Martha had had seven children: Martha, Henry, John, Andrew, Joseph, Mary And Martha Mathilda, although only John, Andrew Mary and Martha Mathilda were still alive in 1861. Both Andrew and Martha Mathilda died in 1862. In 1861 Andrew and Martha also had two of Andrew's children from his first marriage, Ambrose and Ellen, and a Mary Ann born 1847, who was the daughter of Martha and her first husband, John Wilkinson, living with them.

After 1861 they had two more children, Joseph Hadley in 1864 and Ellen in 1866 but Ellen died in 1868.

Andrew died in 1876 of apoploxy.
