Press 20th July 1916 page 9 [3] Captain Victor Roach Bond (slightly wounded) was employed by the Railway Department at Ellerslie and afterwards by the Lands Department in Wellington. He accompanied the advance guard to Samoa on the outbreak of war. When $ c guard was relieved, he proceeded to Egypt with one of the Reinforcements. Captain Bond saw service at Gallipoli and came through unscathed. He has two brothers on active service. Although only 23 years of age, Captain Bond rapidly gained promotion, his enthusiasm for military work and his experience while in the Territorials standing him in good stead. He is a son of Mr. Stephen Bond, caretaker of Auckland Government House.
