Mrs. Mary Watt, aged 85 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Corinth Featherstone, near Inglefield, Ind., at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. She leaves to mourn her loss four daughters and three sons, one sister and one brother, thirty grandchildren, a greater number of great-grandchildren and a host of friends. She was born in England, May 23, 1827, and at the age of twelve years, came with her parents Cornelius and Lucy Bond to this country to make this their future home. They landed at Quebec, Canada, after being on the ocean for thirteen weeks. After leaving Quebec they came by canal to Evansville, which at that time was a mere village. After arriving here her parents settled in Warrick county. Later she was married to Henry J. Miller. To this union eight children were born, three sons and five daughters, one daughter, Lucy, who died at the age of 11 years. After the death of her husband, which was at an early age, she supported herself and her seven children by keeping store, buying her goods in Evansville and hauling them in a wagen to her home, a distance of twenty-five miles. Later she was married to William Watt, and after this she moved her store to Gibson county and lived there with her husband until his death. She continued to live there until the last few years. This time she spent partly at her old home and partly with her daughter, where she passed away. She lived a long and useful life, helping those about her and making friends wherever she went. Funeral services will be held at Eden church, Gibson county, at 1 o'clock today, and the remains will be placed in Eden cemetery. 2 Bur: Buried in Eden Cem with 2d husband William Watt. 2 Middle name Roper from Ancestry File, 4 Feb 1998. 2 !1870 IN Census, Warrick Co, Greer Twp, P.O.
