He came to this country in 1827 and landed in the city of New York. After living in that place about one year he came to Evansville, Indiana. In 1829 he sent for his family in England which consisted of a wife and nine children: Susan R., Mary, Lucy, Hannah, Ann, John, Stephen, and Henry, making in all three sons and six daughters. Mr. Bond married Miss Lucy Roper, a native of the same country in which he lived. Mrs. Bond, the wife of our subject entered death's cold grave a few years ago at a ripe old age. There have been three children passed away. Stephen, the oldest son, was murdered in California some years ago by an unknown robber, and John and Hannah have died from disease. His children were all christened in the Baptist church of England. Our subject lived with his son, Henry Bond, for about fourteen years. The remains were interred in the family lot near Henry Bond's residence.
