Biography

Anne (or Anna) Bond was the da. of Alderman William Bond of London. She m. William Whitmore, haberdasher of London. [1]

Anne is referenced in her father's Will of 1576. “And forasmuch as my sonne William Whytmore hath with my daughter a thousande pounde of money sterling, my promyse ys that each of my children hauing so moche, then my daughter Whytmore to have as the rest of my children shall haue, reseruing my heire, unto whom and to my other three sonnes I giue and bequeath my place, garden and Tenement thereunto belonging, and that the suruiuor of them shall enjoye yt, and so the heires of their bodyes for euer.” from will of William Bond[2]

She married first Robert King, then William Whitmore, merchant, of London. Their children were Sir William, Sir George, Thomas, Anne (married Francis Baber); Elizabeth (married Sir William Craven); Margaret (married Sir Richard Grobham); Mary (married Sir Charles Montagu); Frances (married Sir John Weld); and Jane (married Nathaniel Still).

Death

She died Oct. 9, 1615.

Will

Anne's Will was probated Oct. 17, 1615. [3] Her 12-page Will has many charitable donations and a long codicil regarding donations to the guild of Haberdashers.

Children named are George, William, Ann (Baber), Margaret (Grobham), Mary (Montagu), Frances (Weld), Jane (Still), Elizabeth (Craven), and Thomas (who is indicated as deceased). Other relatives named (as well as sons-in-law to the mentioned daughters and her two daughters-in-law married to her sons William and George) are: cousin Francis Johanes, alderman; brother-in-law Abraham Kynge; sister-in-law Lady Boyse; brother-in-law John Barker; cousin Quarles wife of Mr. William Quarles; brother-in-law John Hough, brother Martyn Bond; sister-in-law Margaret Bond; cousin George Bond; cousin William Bond; cousin Andrewes; and cousin John Manning
