James was born in Woodstock, Oxfordshire around 1825. James parents Richard and Jane (Moss) were also born in Woodstock.

James, Elizabeth, and their children; James, Charles and Martha departed England 3rd August 1856 on the Mary Ann.

BOND-At Pimpinio on September 3rd, 1905, James Bond, dearly beloved husband of Susan Bond ; aged 84 years Asleep in Jesus

‘Horsham Times’ 5th Sep 1905 OBITUARY. Another old and respected resident of the district, Mr James Bond, of Pimpinio, passed away peacefully on Sunday. Deceased, who was of a nice, genial disposition, and well liked by all who knew him, died from senile pneumonia. He was 84 years of age and had resided in the district for many years, but had retired from active farm work for some time. Deceased leaves a widow and family. The funeral is appointed to leave his late residence at Pimpinio, at 3 o'clock to-morrow, the interment taking place in the Pimpinio cemetery.

At the 1841 census James was living at Brook’s Banks, Willesden, Middlesex. His age was given as 15 and his birth was estimated to be between 1822 and 1826. Also at this address were his parents, Richard and Jane both aged 50 and Susan Fisher (40), William Fisher (8), Sarah Kittchener (75), Henry Pierce (15) and Thomas Pierce (15). The birthplace of Susan, William, Sarah and Thomas was gven as Midlesex but no place of birth was given for any of the others.

At the 1851 census James Bond (25) a labourer born in Woodstock, is listed as the head of the household at Chapel Row in Willesden. Also residing at the address were his wife Elizabeth (24), born in Hyde, their son James (2) born in Willesden, and his parents Richard (70) and Jane (72) both recorded as being born in Woodstock and listed as ‘lodgers’.
