Joseph Norman Bond was born on May 28, 1758 in Neston, Cheshire, England and baptised in that same parish on June 4th . He was the eighth son of Dr. James Bond, M.D. and Mary Norman.[1]
He was the 1st doctor in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, having followed his father and his grandfather in medicine. He was also a militia officer, and judge. He married Elizabeth Bell on May 5, 1785 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada and they were the parents of 17 children, including
James, born April 1, 1786, who married Deborah Tooker, and was appointed to the Legislative Council of Nova Scotia, was the first bank manager when the Bank of Nova Scotia was established in Yarmouth, and one of the founders of the Yarmouth Agricultural Society
Sarah, born May 14, 1789, who married Henry G. Farish, M.D.
Maria, born July 7, 1791, who married George Bingay
Anne, born August 15, 1793, who married Judge Thomas Ritchie
Stephen Norman, born July 3, 1795, who died in 1821, unmarried
Eliza, born May 21, 1797, who died in 1851, unmarried
Joseph Blackburn, born March 21, 1802, who married Eliza Moody
George William, born July 19, 1804, who married Frances Gertrude Carter
Charles John, born February 28, 1807, who died at sea, unmarried
Jane Margaret, born January 27, 1809, who married John Bingay Esq as his second wife
Joseph died on March 15,1830 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada and left his vast estate to his wife Elizabeth.
