Uriah died April 18th 1902 and Hannah December 23rd 1922 in Mound City, Holt County, Missouri. They are buried in Old Mound City Cemetery. Mound City, Holt, Missouri.

From The Mound City News-April 25, 1902:
Uriah Simmons was born in Ontario County, New York, May 23, 1837; died at him home in Mound City, Mo., April 18, 1902, aged 64 years, 8 months and 25 days.

He was married in Stephenson county, Illinois, December 24, 1868, to Miss Hannah Bond. To them were born four children, three of whom are still living; namely, Mrs. Ida Fike, and Mattie and Oliver Simmons.

Deceased was a soldier of our late Civil War enlisting in Company B, 74th Illinois Volunteers, August 9, 1862, and was honorably discharged June 27, 1865.

Mr. Simmons had been afflicted with cancer and for several months had been a great sufferer, but he bore his suffering with heroic fortitude and submitted to the inevitable like a soldier brave, trusting and patient to the end.

Many of his soldier friends and comrades were present at his funeral services and after the services which were conducted in the home by Rev. J.K. Hicks, they laid him to rest according to the rites of the G.A.R.

The wife, children, and relatives have the sincere sympathy of their many friends, and may the great God and Father comfort and sustain them in this great sorrow and bereavement." J.K.H.
