Birth and Parents

Jane was born on 21 June 1664 in Chipping, Lancashire, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Bond[1] and his wife Anne (Parker) Bond, who he married 22 May 1656 in Boland, Yorkshire, England.[2] Her father, Thomas BOND, a publisher of Quaker teachings, was born 1633 in Garstang, Lancashire, England. Her mother, Anne PARKER was born 1633 in Lees in the Forest of Bowland, West Riding, Yorkshire, England.

Marriage 1

Jane BOND married John SCOTT of Huggan Ing (Yorkshire for Huggan's meadow) in the manor of Sawley, Yorkshire, at Clement Parker’s house at Bradley Hall 26 Aug 1687.[3][4] Children:

  • Anne SCOTT – Quaker - b: 25 Aug 1688 in Huggan Ing, Yorkshire, England.
  • Sarah SCOTT – Quaker - b: 23 Jul 1690 in Huggan Ing, Yorkshire, England.

1699 From Sawley Extra-parochial District, Yorkshire, England. Emigration: FROM MAY 1699 TO 24 AUG 1699 Liverpool, Merseyside (River), Lancashire, England on the ship Britannia, to Pennsylvania.

The ship on which Jane came to America was the Britania; of 1699, also known as the sick ship. About a fifth of the passengers died. Wills made on board ship were recorded at Philadelphia upon arrival there. Jane’s first husband, John Scott, died soon after arriving and taking up land in Bucks County, leaving her with at least one small child. She soon married John Whitaker, who had also been a passenger on the ship.

FETTERS: Pg. 249[3] - Regardless, all the claims to legacies are based on the assumption that Jane Scott Whitacre was Jane Parker (b. 1673), the daughter of John PARKER (b. 1634) of Extwistle Hall, Lancashire. As shown in Chapter VII, this assumption is false. Jane Scott Whitacre was born in 1664, and was the daughter of Thomas and Anne (Parker) BOND.
