Biography

Sarah (Bone) Goldsmith was a convict after the Third Fleet transported to New South Wales

Sarah Bone was born in or about 1781 in probably Middlesex in England.

Convict Sarah Bone was sentenced to be Transported to Australia for 7 years; for stealing a Pewter quart pot & 2 Pewter pint pots (in the Old Bailey First Middlesex Jury, 9th of February 1812). They were the property of James Farr the keeper of a public-house, the Mason's Arms, 48 Upper Berkeley-street, London. (from Australian Royalty website)

She was one of 127 female convicts who left England on the convict ship Minstrel on 4th June 1812. The Minstrel sailed in company with the Indefatigable and landed in Port Jackson on 25 October 1812. It is known that accompanying Sarah on this voyage was her infant daughter Rebecca.

"John Goldsmith of the parish of St John Parramatta and Sarah Bourn of ditto were married in this church by banns this 9th day of October in the year 1813 by me Samuel Marsden. - John and Sarah both made their X marks in the presence of Joseph Jones who signed the register and Ann McEleroy who made her X mark". Sarah is shown as being 47 on the 1828 NSW Census/Muster. Employed by John Goldsmith of Darling Harbour (her husband).
