Ann was born in Hamilton, Scotland after her parents had moved from County Tyrone. She moved to Galdonagh, County Donegal as a child and married Neal Duffy in 1924.

They had two sons. Ann passed away in 1956 and is buried in Newtowncunningham with her husband and son Bernard.
