- About Tilly (always referred to by my grandmother as "Griffiths") - she was very good to us but we were not supposed to tell Grandma she (Till) had been to visit. Mum says she doesn't know the cause of the rift. My impression was that it was connected with their mother's death.
- Possibly Matilda Hawkins. Verify on probate document of Matilda Hawkins Smith. Verified.
- Mathilda identified her father, Charles, upon his death in Christchurch. At that time, she was Matilda Hawkins Griffiths.
