Biography
Charles Booker was born around 1744. He was christened on 10 Nov 1745 at St Nicholas' Church in Guildford, Surrey. He was the son of William and Ann Booker.
Charles was an alderman of Guildford. He married Elizabeth Bicknell on 13 Aug 1771 at St Peter's Church in Ash, by license. Charles belonged to Holy Trinity Parish in Guildford, Elizabeth was local. The witnesses were John Hood, William Bicknell and Ann Searle.[1]
Their daughter Elizabeth was christened on 16 May 1772 at St Mary's Church in Guildford.[2] She must have died in infancy, since the next child was given the same name, but no burial record has been found in the Guildford records. Perhaps she died while the family were away from home - there was a burial of an Elizabeth Booker in Eynsford, Kent in 1773.[3]
Charles and Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth was christened on 4 Jan 1774 at St Mary's.[4]
Their daughter Sarah was christened on 22 Mar 1776 at St Mary's.[5] Sarah died in infancy; she was buried on 24 Mar 1776 at St Mary's.[6]
Their son Charles was christened on 13 Feb 1778 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford.
Their daughter Ann was christened on 7 Sep 1779 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford.[7] She died in infancy; she was buried on 11 Sep 1779 at Holy Trinity.[8]
Their son William was christened on 13 Sep 1785 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford.[9]
Charles senior died on 22 Oct 1810, possibly aged 66. He was buried on 29 Oct 1810 at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford. His will mentions a wife Elizabeth, his son Charles, a daughter Elizabeth who was married to George Waugh, and several Waugh grandchildren (George, Elizabeth, Mary, Jane, Joanna). There could be more relatives named, I was skimming it. Probate was on 3 Feb 1811.
