Biography
He worked for many newspapers: Boston Globe, Boston Journal, New York Herald and the Cleveland Plain Dealer. For many years he was a compositor and later linotype operator on the Lewiston Evening Journal. In 1886 he wrote THE GOSS FAMILY CHRONICLES based upon a paper he read at a Goss family reunion. He married (1) ______________ m(2) Addie Doughty of Auburn(ME). The late Arthur Gray Staples in the Lewiston Evening Journal wrote unpon John Booomer's death in issue 13 Feb 1922 : " Billy Boomer was a humorist, awanderd and a good workman. He dallied with life a bit, too and hence became carefree and broadly a fatalist. He was disinclined to work too steady, hence varied his work with what he deemed to be pleasure, harmless enough to everyone but himself .. Billy Boomer was a write a broad and pictureque fine humor. He wrote a column for the Lewiston Journal under the name of 'SLUGTWELVE' this being his compositors slug. It was widely read and enjoyed."
