Biography

William Boone was baptized 8/4/1737 St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal Church, Church Hill, Queen Anne's County, MD;parents Isaac & Elizabeth Boone,The "church on the hill," or St. Luke's Episcopal Church, is one of the oldest intact brick church in the state having been built in 1732 at a cost of 140,000 pounds of tobacco. That tobacco paid for bricks to be brought over from England to replace the wooden church that had been erected in 1728.

(William Boon was called William Boon Jr. to distinquish him from a cousin, William Boon Sr. born 1734, the son of James who was the brother of William's father, Isaac).^[1]

Inheritance from Father

In William's father, Isaac's will: To eldest son, Willian, 60 A of "Dead Ridge," 40 A of "Boon's Venture Addition" on northwest side of "Dead Ridge."

William Inherited 60 A pt of tract called Dead Ridge and pt of tract called Boon's Venture Addition on NW side of sd land called Dead Ridge, 40 acres in a square adjoining to sd 60 acres called Dead Ridge. Also half of Boon's Venture with brother, Moses, in father Isaac's will 4 Oct 1766.^[1]

Boon, (Boone), William Jr. (1737-after 1786) Private, Militia, Capt Thomas Hughlett's Company, 28th Battalion, by Aug 13, 1777 (Ref: M-152)William Boon Jr., Son of Isaac, was aged 48 in a 1784 deposition and aged 49 in a 1786 deposition (Ref: 5-10)^[2]

A William Boon married Rebeckah Chance 1/31/1759 in the same church--St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal Church, Church Hill, Queen Anne's County, MD; probably our William Boon.

William's children were: Henry, Leah, Hannah, Lydia, Mable, Dorcas, Mary and Elizabeth.^[3]

NOTE: The names of all his children come from Chancery Court document showing a court settlement for land that William had inherited from Isaac and sold to his brother William in 1788, reserving a life right to occupy the land until his death. Money changed hands, but a deed was never recorded. In the meantime both William and Isaac died and the court had to be involved in order for the heirs to settle both estates. I found an abstract online of this document. Document states that William Boon Jr. "departed this life intestate since the 1st day of January 1788 (presumably when he made his deal with brother, Isaac)"

1790 US Census

In the 1790 US Census William Boon's farm had 1 male and 5 females, no slaves or other people. This is the only census where William would be included as he died before the 1800 census ten years later.

Death / Burial

Per Find A Grave: William's body lost or destroyed, and the current site of his remains is unknown. Specifically: William may have been buried at his church where he was baptized and married.^[1]
