Biography

Major Lafayette Boone served in the United States Civil War.
Side: Confederacy

Lafayette Boone was born on 30 Jul 1834 in Elkins, Washington, Arkansas, United States, son of Doctor James Monroe Boone (1788 - 1856) and Sophronia (Smith) Boone (1808 - 1835).

Lafayette married Nancy Adeline Skelton (1834 - 1865) on 9 Nov 1864 in Lamar, Texas, United States. Nancy Adeline Skelton is somewhat related by marriage to Martha Wayles Skelton, wife of Thomas Jefferson: through Bathurst Skelton, and possibly also to Sally Hemings.

Their daughter was Louisiana Carolina (Boone) Cherry (1850 - 1920). Their daughter was my great-grandmother Louisiana Carolina Boone, known as Lou, in some sources, who married William Pinckney Cherry in St Augustine in what became Texas. Both died in Oklahoma Territory, Wm Pinckney Cherry before statehood, Louisiana Carolina Boone a few years after statehood.

Lafayette died on 9 Aug 1900 in Fayetteville, Washington, Arkansas aged 66. He is buried in Fayetteville Confederate Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
