Biography

My WikiTree free-space profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:James_Boone%E2%80%99s_Genealogy

I am an amateur genealogist researching my family’s roots.

I was born in December 1948 to Will and Ellen Boone, formerly Wright. I grew up in Manhattan, New York City, with my older brother, Thomas, who sadly passed away in November 2013. My father is from North Carolina and my mother is from Trelawny Parish, Jamaica.

My mother’s parents were Afro-Jamaicans of partial Indian descent and my father’s family were tri-racial. He told me that some of our relatives were enrolled members of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe and that we were of Native American descent.

I got my DNA testing done in January 2018. It shows 66% Sub-Saharan African, 21% European, 8% Western Asian & Middle Eastern, and 5% Native & Indigenous American.

In 1999, I moved from New York to Florida. I am married and have four kids.

I am a member of Mt. Herman AME Church, Fort Lauderdale, and have been attending their services since I moved.

Hi James,

Thank you for your interest in the US Black Heritage and adding more African-American profiles to WikiTree. The more profiles we add the more we can help others connect to their ancestors and other connections they may not know exist. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to ask, in the meantime, you can check out https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:US_Black_Heritage for details about the project.

Hi James

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Pam ~ WikiTree Pre-1700 Greeter

Welcome to WikiTree cousin! Here’s to finding lots of family info and putting it all together.
