Lucy was born on 17th November 1801 at Headcorn, Kent, a daughter of William Boorman and his wife Mary Burch (or Birch), her birth being recorded in the register of Headcorn Baptist Church. She married William Stanley at Marden, Kent, on 12th June 1829 and they lived there together for the next thirty years, six children being born there. Lucy continued to farm there after William's death, but by 1881 she was living with her daughter Louisa and Louisa's family at Headcorn. She died there in 1886 and was buried at Headcorn on 1st.
