Charles was born in 1856 in Kensington, Middlesex the son of Charles Boosey and Jane Ann (Stephens) Boosey.[1]
1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Charles was living in Hadley Green, Hertfordshire with his siblings Constance and John.[2]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Charles was living at Wellington College, Sandhurst, Berkshire.[3]
1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Charles a music publisher's clerk, was living The Pines, Bickley Park, Bromley, Kent, England with his parents Charles and Jane and his siblings Arthur, Constance, Beatrice, Catherine, Emily and Frederick.[4]
Charles married Julia May Atterbury on the 2nd May 1886 at St Martin, Ashton-on-Mersey, Cheshire, England.[5]
1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Charles a music publisher and bonnet maker, was living in Beckingham Grove, Beckenhham, Kent with his wife Julia and their son Charles.[6]
1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Charles a music publisher and band instrument manufacturer, was living in Keston, Bromley, Kent with his wife Julia, and their children Ralph, Rupert and Beatrice shown as Joyce.[7]
1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Charles a music publisher, was living in Keston, Bromley, Kent with his wife Julia, and their children Charles and Beatrice.[8]
Charles, of Knightons, Keston, Kent, died aged 79 on the 4th July 1935 in Bromley, Kent. [9]
The newspaper announcement stated DEATH OF MR. C. T. BOOSEY. PROMINENT RESIDENT OF KESTON. A prominent resident of Keston, Mr. Charles Thomas Boosey, who was a grandson of the founder of Boosey, and Co., the music publishing firm, died at his home at Knightons on Thursday last week, aged 79. He had been ill since a few weeks before the death of his wife in May, 1933. In addition to an only daughter, Miss Joyce Boosey, there are two sons, Messrs. Evelyn and Ralph Boosey. Two other sons, Messrs. Cecil and Rupert Boosey, were killed in action during the Great War, the former in France and the latter in Mesopotamia. Mr. Boosey had resided at Keaton for more than 38 years, prior to which he lived for about 13 years at Shortlands, where he went soon after his marriage. He had been actively associated with the music publishing firm bearing his name until about the time of his illness. For many years he was a warden at Keaton Parish Church and, like his wife and daughter, was prominently connected with Keston Constitutional Association. [10]
Probate of Charles' estate, £75616 12s. 7d., was processed in London on the 29th August 1935 and passed to his sons Charles Evelyn Boosey and Ralph Boosey music publishers.[11]

Charles' great grandfather Thomas Boosey had established a book shop called Boosey and Sons which became T. &T. Boosey in 1819, and this later became the Boosey Publishing Company, now part of Boosey and Hawkes>[12]. Brothers Charles Thomas Boosey and Arthur Boosey were therefore the fourth generation to work in the company.
