The death occurred recently of Mr. James Charles Booth, a well-known resident of Port Albert, Auckland. Mr. Booth was at one time a resident of Invercargill, where he arrived in 1874 and remained for ten years in business as a baker. He married in Invercargill a daughter of the late Mr. Walter Wright. As regards the circumstances in which Mr. Booth met his death it appears that he and one of his sons were out towards evening bringing in the cows from amongst the scattered bush. The son returned, but when Mr. Booth failed to come back, Mrs. Booth went in search of him. Later, the son joined in the search and Mr. Booth’s body was found in amongst the trees. The assistance of neighbours had to be obtained to get the body to the house. At an inquest held later it was found that Mr. Booth had died from the bursting of a blood vessel on the brain. Deceased had two sons at the front, both of whom have seen a lot of fighting. The youngest son, C. F. Booth was reported in last week’s casualty list to have died of wounds.
