Charlotte Booth, or Lot as she was mostly known, was the eldest child of English emigrants, Walter Booth, a railway worker, and Anne Eliza Waterhouse. She was born on 17th April 1890 in Ipswich, Queensland (Australia). [1] About 1895, the family moved into Brisbane's north as Lot's father transferred to the Albion yards. The move brought about their association with the Lutwyche Methodist Church. Lot was just twelve years of age when her father died in 1902.
Lot remained single all her life. She was a seamstress / dressmaker. She lived at various times with her sister, Annie, and was the 'typical' spinster Aunt, according to the recollections of her niece and nephew. She purchased a house in Wavell Heights, Queensland. Eventually, Lot had a 'granny flat' built on the back of her niece Gwenda's home at The Grange, Queensland, during the mid-1960s. It's flat roof remains clear in Google Maps to this day. [2] After Lot moved into a Chermside nursing home, the flat was used by great nephew Ken Evans and his first wife (1974-75), then great niece Glenys and her husband (1975-76) and then by Lot's sister Annie (1977-80), before the house was sold.
Aged 86 years, Lot passed away on 15th June 1976 and is buried in Albany Creek Memorial Park, Queensland. [3]
