William Dorsey Boothe Sr. was born on 10 Aug 1837 in Lowndes, Alabama to parents John Sherrod Boothe and Mildred Thorn. He married Mary Ann Armstrong on 6 Oct 1860 in Lowndes, Alabama. Children: William Dorsey Jr., George Franklin, John Thomas, James Maximillian, Charles, Mary Elizabeth, Martha Lucretia. He died on 21 Nov 1876 in Montgomery, Alabama.
William served as a private in Company I, Alabama 45th Infantry Regiment of the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
