HARVEY — BORLEY.
A quiet wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Brown, when Charles Arthur, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harvey, of Batlow, was married to Patricia, youngest daughter of the late G. Borley, of Balmain. Rev. H. J. Velvin being the celebrant. The bride, attired in white Jersey silk, was given away by Mr. J. W. Brown, being attended by Miss Ivy Harvey, in a navy morocain ensemble, while Mrs. Brown officiated as Matron of Honour. The bridal bouquet consisted of roses and chrysanthemums.
Rev. H. J. Velvin presided at the wedding breakfast and reception, opening the proceedings by calling on Mr. D. Hay to propose the loyal toast. Honoured with musical hon-ours.
In proposing the toast of the bride and bridegroom, Rev H. J. Velvin remarked that a period of some fifteen months had elapsed since he solemnised a wedding in Batlow; he stressed the point that the young men should marry. On behalf of the assembled friends he wished the bridal couple happiness and prosperity. — Mr. Harvey briefly responded.
In proposing the health of the Parents, Mr. R. Chamberlain remarked that he had known the parents of the bridegroom for a period of years, though he had not had the pleasure of meeting the parents of the bride. — In responding, Mr. Arthur Harvey expressed the wish that the bridegroom would prove as good a husband as he had been a son.
An unusual note was introduced when Mr. G. H. Dalley proposed the toast of "Our Mothers."
Following on the ceremony, the bridal couple faced the ubiquitous battery of cameras, groups and poses being taken from various angles, while the Rev. Velvin graced one assemblage.
An entirely unrehearsed part of the proceedings took place when the bride announced that Phar Lap," the angora goat, had been making his presence felt amongst her trousseau. Investigations disclosed that the goat had demolished the greater part of the bridal bouquet, though other damage was negligible.
Subsequently, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey left for Tumut, where the honey-moon will be spent. After the departure of the bridal couple, the guests had a most enjoyable dance, for which Mr. Arthur Way and Miss Ilma Way rendered the necessary music. [1]
