  • 04/03/1801 BORTHWICK, THOMAS (Old Parish Registers Births 854/ 10 158 Westerkirk) Baptised 4 March; born probably 1 January, but hard to read

09/03/1827 BORTHWICK, THOMAS (Old Parish Registers Marriages 854/ 20 58 Westerkirk)

1886 BORTHWICK, THOMAS (Statutory registers Deaths 854/ 5) His parents are stated to be William Borthwick, farmer and Christina Borthwick, nee King. I think it is much more likely that his mother was Christian Keen. Christian Keen married William Borthwick in Westerkirk on 26 July 1795. 26/07/1795 KEEN, CHRISTIAN (Old Parish Registers Marriages 854/ 10 235 Westerkirk).

This is presumably the Christian Keen born on 25 September 1768 in Canonbie. OPR Births 814/20 4 Canonbie to a John Keen and Eupham Midcalf

A Christian Keen died on 21/12/1846 in Westerkirk OPR Records of deaths 854/ 30 19 Westerkirk

William Borthwick is probably the one born on 6 June 1776, to James Borthwick 06/06/1776 BORTHWICK, WILLIAM (Old Parish Registers Births 854/ 10 113 Westerkirk) William Borthwick is I think he who died on 16/02/1829 OPR Register of Deaths 854/30 11 Westerkirk

Euphemia Midcalf was buried on 5 November 1805 in Langholm or Staplegorton)

05/11/1805 MIDCALF, EUPHEMIA (Old Parish Registers Deaths 839/ 20 266 Langholm or Staplegorton)
