Biography

Jacob (Bortner) Bordner has German Roots.

Jacob Bordner, son of Balthaser Bortner, was born in 1722. There is a record for a 1731 baptism,[1] but he was listed as ten years old when the family arriced in America in 1732[2] and he had already received a warrant to buy land in Lancaster county by 1740.[3] Jacob Bordner was the executor of his father's estate. On 10 April 1761, Jacob Bordner became a naturalized citizen of Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, at the Supreme Court of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On 20 June 1761, Jacob Bordner purchased the Bordner homestead from Thomas and Richard Penn. The homestead had been previously leased to Jacob Hoffman, who was unable to pay his rent. [4]

Jacob Bordner married Sarah Balt and they produced seven children: Jacob, John, William, Daniel, Peter, Anna Maria and Barbara. [4]

Jacob Bordner died in 1792 in Bethel, Berks, Pennsylvania, United States and his homestead was passed to his eldest son, Jacob. [4]

Apparently there is a 1731 baptism, but he must have been baptized as a nine year old because he is clearly reported as a ten year old on the 1732 passenger list and had a land warrant by 1740. Please merge.
