TWENTY-SIX BOYS GO TO CAMP TODAY Baptist Camp Opens at Lake Ashmere,Hinsdale.....FOR TWO WEEKS............Total Number at Camp is 38...Group to Return July 22....Girls Take Over Site July 25. Twenty-six boys left this morning for two weeks at Camp Ashmere, the camp at Hindsdale sponsored by the First Baptist Church of this city. The boys and their leaders gathered at the church this morning for transportation to the camp.When they have had their two weeks of camping a group of girls will go to the camp. The boys from this city who left today are as follows: Jack White, William Hodgson,Frederick Osborne,Stanley Boshoff, Frederick Boshoff,Albert Fountain, Gordon Hermon,Willaim Mausert, Howard Goodermote,Raymond Collier,Edwin Jackson, Thomas Hurlburt Jr.,Donald Lapine,Donald Putnam,Frederick Calkins,David Nassif,Wallace Kenyon, Ralph Kenyon,Robert Lapan,Stanley Wilson,Donald Moors,William Barcomb,Edwin Myers and James McLean.Also in the group was Leon E. Storms of Oriente,Cuba who is visiting in this city. The boys will retirn from Camp Ashmere Saturday, July 22. Parents are invited to visit the camp and especially to attend the evening campfire sessions. The feature of the camping season this year will be the dedication next Sunday afternoon at 3:30 O'clock of several new cabins at the camp. The dedication ceremonies have been arranged by the Clare class of the Baptist church. In addition to the North Adams boys who will be at the camp several boys from other communities are attending this year. Among them are Frederic Marchegiani of Stamford,Vt.,Jackie Callahan and Paul W. Langer of Adams and boys from Amherst,Holyoke,Springfield, Needham and Manchester,Ct. The total number of boys in camp is 38.

Stanley A. Boshoff
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Stanley A. Boshoff, 90, most recently of Saratoga Springs and formerly of Worcester, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at the Saratoga Hospital.
He was born Aug. 7, 1923, in North Adams, Mass., the son of Philip and Ada (Sur) Boshoff. He married Lucia M. DiMartin on Feb. 16, 1948. She predeceased him on March 30, 1975.
Stanley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was injured and received the Purple Heart.
During his working career, he drove truck and for 17 years was a rural postal carrier working out of the Worcester office. He then worked at the Albany Postal Distribution Center until his retirement in 1986.
Stanley was a member of the Worcester American Legion, and VFW. He loved sports and was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, as well as a follower of various college sports.
While living in Cheshire, Mass., from 1986 to 2011, where he resided with his sister, Amy Bryant, he took advantage of the opportunities of walking and hiking in Berkshires.
He is survived by a son, Philip P. Boshoff, and his wife, Rose A. of Saratoga Springs; a granddaughter, Laurel Boshoff of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Amy Bryant of Pittsfield, Mass.; as well as two nephews and several cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Stephen Fournier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
There will be no calling hours.
