Biography
Elms Bosley was born in 1809 in the Forest of Dean area. He was the son of John Bosley, a shoemaker. Like his father, Elms was also a shoemaker.
In 1835 Elms was "in occupation of a tennement in the town of Coleford opposite the Baptist Church."
He married Ann Baynham, a dressmaker, in 1839. [1] The Llandogo Parish Records extract reads - "ELMS BOSLEY, of full age, bachelor, shoemaker of Forest of Dean, son of JOHN BOSLEY, occ: shoemaker married ANN BAYNHAM, of full age, spinster, occ: dressmaker of Hundred of St Briavels, daughter of WILLIAM BAYNHAM, occ: collier. Witness JOHN WILLETTS."
Elms is recorded in 1841 census aged 30 in the household of Thomas Edwards in Cinderford, Forest of Dean. [2]
Ann and Elms had six children: Thomas (1841); Eliza (1843); Emma (1844); Annie (1847); Harriet (1848); and George (1851).
Ann passed away in 1855, aged 40.
Elms passed away a year later in 1856, aged 47. [3]
He was buried at Newland, Gloucestershire - Parish Burial Record "ELMES BOZLEY of Coleford, age 47yrs , was buried on 29th Sept 1856."
