Lillian Stokes Bostwick was born July 9, 1906 in Manhattan, New York, United States of America. She was the daughter of Albert Carlton Bostwick and Mary Lillian Stokes. Lillian was an heiress to a wealthy fortune as her wealthy grandfather, Jabez A. Bostwick (1830–1892), was a founding partners in the Standard Oil Company along with John D. Rockefeller.[1]
She married Robert V. McKim in 1928 and together the couple had three children, including fashion icon Lilly (McKim) Pulitzer Rousseau. Their other two daughters were Mary Maude McKim and Florence Fitch McKim.
She later divorced McKim in 1937 and the same year married Cuban-American Horace racing enthusiast Ogden Phipps. Her children from that marriage are Ogden Mills Phipps and Cynthia Phipps.
Lillian died November 27, 1987 in Summerville, Dorchester South Carolina, USA.[2]
