[Note: Anderson estimate marriage by March 1653/4, based on Abigail's mention in her father's will, however, the will only mentions the daughters by first name. In 1663, Haniel is named as husband of Abigail, and in 1665, daughter Mary was born]

[Note: conflicting information of the death of Haniel Bosworth. One source indicates his will was probated in 1683, another indicates 1697. His will of 1683 appears of be incorrectly filed/listed as Daniel rather than Haniel. ]

Biography

Haniel Bosworth came to New England in 1638, from Boston, Lincolnshire, in the service of John Whittingham. [1] John Whittingham, of Ipswich bequeathed Haniel Bosworth 20s, in his will proved on March 27, 1649. Haniel was one of the witnesses to the will. [2]

In Abigail's father Thomas' will written on March 8, 1653/4, he left legacies to his son Thomas and his daughters, including daughter Abigail. His executors were Richard Kimball, Thomas Rowlinson Sr. and Edward Bridges. [5] [4]

  • 1663: October 1: Haniel Bostworth certified that he had received his wife Abigail's L25, from RIchard Kimball and Edward Bridges, executors of the estate of her father Thomas Scott. [5] [3] [4]
  • 1678: February 1: Haniel Bosworth was on the list of Ipswich men having a right to commonage. [7]

Susannah Bosworth Shatswell, is also speculated to be a sister of Haniell and Dorcas. Her estate was administered by Hananiell Bosworth and Jno Griffyn. Essex Probate, Volume 2, p. 298

Sourced profile, added bio. I found no evidence of his father being Haniel or sister Dorcas.

What I did find was speculation that because Dorcas Bosworth Clarke had a son named Haniel she must be sister to this man, and their father was also likely named Haniel. Probably should remove his father. Not sure what to do about Dorcas.

Bosworth-13 and Bosworth-14 appear to represent the same person because: I think Hananiel is a misspelling of Daniel.

I retract this message. I now believe that Hanniel is correct.
