Biography

Alonzo George Bosworth was born on 17 June 1823 in New York, United States to Amasa Bosworth (1775-1860) and Thersa Fuller (1783-1862). [1] Find A Grave gives his birth year as 1822; however a birth record has not been found and there is no headstone. The 1900 US Federal Census gives his birth year as 1823.

Alonzo moved with his family to New Hudson, Allegany County, New York about 1828. [1]
Alonzo was a a lumberman and has been employed as head sawyer and manager of the lumber firm of J. Nichols & Company for more than twenty years. [1]

Marriage and Family

Alonzo married twice:

  1. Frances Page November, 1854. [1]
This date can not be correct. Their first child was born in 1844. They were married c. 1843.
  2. Sarah R. Adams (1832-1914) in February, 1861. [1]
Note that in 1865 Alonzo had been married twice. Some of the notes put on here about the marriages and children is simply not correct. The Adams book has often been found to be in error; so judge the dates of the marriages with an open eye.

They lived in Carrollton, Cattaraugus, New York in 1870 through 1880. Sometime before 1900 they moved to Limestone Village, Cattaraugus, New York.

Research notes

  1. Adams source lists date of first marriage as 1854. Alonzo had two children, born in 1844 and 1847. If the Adams source has the correct date for marriage to Amelia Page in 1854, then these two sons were born from a different mother. If the Adams source has an incorrect date for marriage to Amelia, the two boys could be Amelia's and maybe the year should be 1844-ish (1843, 1844 or 1845). Further research is needed to validate the date.

Notes

The Bosworth famiy reunion held Sept 2nd (1904) at the residence of Alonzo Bosworth was largely attended by relatives and a pleasant time would have been enjoyed if the rains of Friday and Saturday had not interfered. (Ellicottville Post).

The Find A Grave was Researched through Family Search.org, Archieves, and Fulton NY Post cards. Note: Records of Painted Hills Genealogy Society

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Alonzo by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Alonzo:

Please do not change the placement of the reference and footnote notations. 1/2 of the census data and other is lost if you do. No rule that I know of that says you have to have no space between "Sources" and References or can't have footnotes. Thank you.
