He them married Anna Christina Elizabeth Hansmeyer in Amersfoort on 6 May 1930. They had four children.
He was living in "Avondrus", Guest House no 42 in Vereeniging when he passed away on 4 January 1972.
He was buried on 6 January 1972 as follows:
