Lt. Bouchard was a fighter pilot in the 8th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. He flew 300 combat hours in the 359th Fighter Group, participating in many of the 346 missions from East Wretham, a village in the English County of Norfolk, from December of 1943 through April of 1945. Their main focus was escorting bombers flying over occupied Europe. Soon after converting from Thunderbolts to Mustangs, they were awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation for defending heavy bombers against enemy fighters in a mission over Merseberg, Germany (September 11,1944). Other awards listed in the American Air Museum in Britain: European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal
Lawrence was a carpenter for 30 years after his military service at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center. He also belonged to the VFW and American Legion and was a member of the Notre Dame Choir and St. Vincent De Paul Society. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
