RENÉ BOUCHARD dit LAVALLÉE Status : Immigrant

René was baptized on 16 Mar 1662 in Lavau (today Lavau-sur-Loire) (St-Martin parish), Nantes diocese, Bretagne[2]

René made a donation in case of death to his future wife on 30 June 1696, as he was going to fight the Iroquois in the service of the king. Which would indicate he was also part of the militia.

René Bouchard, son of Julien Mesnard and Élisabeth Mesnard (both deceased), married Marie Anne Sauvageau, daughter of René Sauvageau (deceased, was chirurgien/surgeon) and Anne Hubou, on 14 Nov 1696 in Montréal (Notre-Dame)[4]. He was listed as 31 year old maître taillandier (edged-tool maker), his father having also practiced the same trade. Named as present were Olivier Quenel, arquebuzier (gunsmith), Jacques Richard, master mason, Moyse Hileret, master carpenter for the king and step-father of the bride, and Charles Viger maître charpentier (master carpenter). Only Jacques Richard could not sign, all witnesses and the 2 spouses did.
