Biography

Samuel Boucher's birth was formerly dated to 1744 on the basis of the marriage licence from 1779 saying that he was aged 35. The date has been changed to 1741 on the basis of the parish register and gravestone stating that he was aged 74 when he died in 1815. (see sources below)

On August 14 1779 the Archbishop of York issued a marriage licence in the names of Samuel Boucher and Mary Burton, both said to be age 35.[1] The marriage actually happened at Newton upon Ouse on 15 August 1779. (see sources below)

Research notes

Geni makes him the son of Ralph Bourchier-365. But the family estates descended from Ralph to his daughter. In fact Ralph's will mentions his son-in-law Giles Earle and a god-daughter and then leaves absolutely everything else both real and personal to his daughter.
