Biography

This profile is part of the Boudreau Name Study.

Michel Boudrot was born about 1685 in Grand-Pré, Acadie, Nouvelle-France, son of Claude Boudrot and Anne Marie Thibodeau. [1] He appeared on the 1693 census at Les Mines, age 8. [2]

He married Marie Cécile LeBlanc (born in Grand-Pré; daughter of Jacques LeBlanc and Catherine Hébert) around 1708 in Grand-Pré. [1]

Their children were: [1]

  1. Michel Boudrot (about 1708–before 1756) .
  2. Marie Boudrot (1709–1758) .
  3. François Boudrot (1710–1757) .
  4. Francoise Boudrot (1712–1737) .
  5. Cécile Boudrot (about 1714–1811) .
  6. Jean-Baptiste Boudrot (about 1715–1760)
  7. Rene Boudrot (before 1717–about 1757)
  8. Pierre Boudrot (1720–before 1763) .
  9. Honoré Boudrot (1724–before 1756) .
  10. Marguerite Boudrot (1725–about 1764) .
  11. Olivier Boudrot (1728–1783)

Around 1708, Michel and Cécile founded the village des Michel (in present-day Port Williams / Starr's Point, NS) that bears his name. [3] In 1714 they appeared on the census taken at Rivière-des-Habitants (Les Mines) with 1 son and 3 daughters. [4] Cécile passed away in 1731.

Michel married Anne Prejean (born in Port-Royal, Acadie; daughter of Jean (Prejean) Préjean and Andrée Marguerite Savoie) on 16 April 1732 in Annapolis Royal, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia. [1] [5] They have no known children.

On 5 September 1755, Michel was imprisoned along with hundreds of other Acadian men at the St. Charles des Mines church in Grand-Pré. On a list of prisoners, he was said to live in the village des Michel. No children or possessions were listed for him on Winslow's list. All of his children were married, with families of their own. He was required to prepare for deportation within 30 days. [6][3]

On 27 October 1755, Michel (about age 70) and Anne (about age 68) were deported to Virginia. The colony was not welcoming to these Frenchmen who were considered a financial burden. The governor of Virginia refused to accept ships full of foreign, impoverished prisoners. After allowing them to winter over in port, they were deported again in May 1756 to England, aboard the Virginia Packet carrying 289 Acadians. They disembarked in Bristol, England June 1756. Acadians there were neglected and subjected to poor conditions. Many of them died from smallpox as a result.[3] [7]

Michel and Anne passed away between September 1755 and the end of September 1756 in Bristol England, or on the way there.[8][3]

Please the source of the parents DNA conformation is on the child profile, thus the parents are confirmed the trail goes to the nearest common ancestor (Theriot). There is one more conformation I am working on, 6 trails from common ancestors to Jeanne Theriot, all sharing the same segment on chromosome 14, please just dont delete conformations
