Henri de Bourbon was the eldest son of Louis, first Prince of Condé, and his first wife Éléonore de Roye. He was a first cousin of the King of Navarre and a military leader of the Protestant camp.
He was married first to his cousin Marie de Clèves, in 1572.
On 16 March 1586 he married Charlotte-Catherine de la Trémoille. They had a posthumous son, Henri II de Bourbon-Condé (1588-1646).
Henri de Bourbon died suddenly on 5 March 1588 in Saint-Jean-d'Angély. His death was so unexpected that his wife Charlotte was suspected of poisoning him.
