Madame Victoire was one of Louis XV and Marie Leczynska's eight daughters.

Along with her younger sisters Victoire, Félicité and Louise, she was raised at Fontevrault Abbey as an economic measure.

Sophie was extremely shy and supposedly the least pretty of all the sisters. Like all her sisters except the eldest, Élisabeth, she never married.

Sophie died at Versailles on 2 March 1782.
