Pierre Bourdain, Born near Bordeaux in France about 1905, was the son of Aurélien Bourdain and Mathilde Belliard. He emigrated about 1919, after he was adopted by American soldier, Arthur H. Murphy. Murphy's unit was billeted in France during World War I at the farm owned by the Bourdain family.
He married Gabrielle Riousse, also French-born, in 1928 in New York.
His mother Mathilde (or Marie?) Belliard may have been the daughter of Martin Belliard and Marguerite Gouilleau.
