⚑ Joseph's birth name is given as Dominique Marie on his baptismal record. (PRDH incorrectly identifies the child as a girl with the name Marie Dominique.) This is undoubtedly a scribal error: the priest wrote the father's name (Dominique) in place of the child's (Joseph) :
- The registry clearly indicates that Dominique Marie is a boy (né, not née)
- There is no other record of Joseph's birth
- There is no other record of a Dominique Marie Bourdeau with this age and parentage
- The name Dominique Marie is very rare (at least in this period) for either boys or girls (Dominique is far more common as a boy's name). Joseph Marie is common as a boy's name.
